Local Information

Dresden is located near the three-country corner Czech Republic, Poland and Germany. It is the capital of the German State Saxony and has a population of about 450,000 people.

Dresden is well known for its Barock architecture, art collections, museums and cultural institutions like the Semper Opera. It has a major concentration of scientific institutions and industry, especially in the field of microelectronics. Starting from Dresden, beautiful surroundings such as the picturesque Elbsandstein Mountains and several castles are easily reachable by car or public transportation. In 2006, Dresden has its 800 anniversary with many festivities.

The conference will be hosted at the Hilton Hotel in the heart of the city. It is located next to the famous Frauenkirche and just above the Elbe river.

Dresden is well connected to the German railway system. Its airport is just outside the city and connected to the city by trains. Weather in July is usually warm and dry.
